If you'd have asked my PE teachers from school what I'd be like in 10 years time I can promise you now that the words 'gym' or 'health' would not have come out of their mouths! So what changed?

My journey to veganism was a fairly long one. The first I ever heard of the word was when my friend told me she’d gone “vegan”. When she explained that meant no animal products, I thought “well that’s a bit extreme. I understand not eating meat but you’re not doing any harm drinking milk or eating eggs.”
Fast forward a few weeks and I saw a video on Instagram of an anti fur campaign where they were stripping a rabbit of his fur and he was screaming. That was the initial spark where I made that connection that I really was eating animals who felt pain like we do. So in Spring 2017 I decided to go vegetarian.
I felt great about myself! I wasn’t harming animals anymore and I replaced all the meat I used to have with quorn products or more dairy. But 6 months down the line I started to see videos about the dairy/egg/fish industry and realised there was a lot more going on than we were ever taught about from mainstream information.
So it was at this point I wanted to go vegan. However it took another 6 months of convincing my mum (who cooked my meals at the time) to cook me vegan food. So in April 2018 I went vegan and have never looked back since.

For almost 2 years I was a vegan junk foodie, living off Uncle Ben’s rice and ready meals, not having a clue about nutrition and frankly — not caring about it either.
It was only after October 2019 when I had an unfortunate sexual assault incident that I wanted to go to the gym to get stronger so I could handle myself if there ever came to be a next time.
So I joined the gym December 2019 with the goal of getting stronger, and absolutely no strategy on how to get there! My goal soon changed to muscle building and so I started learning my basic gym exercises, sticking mainly to machines whilst I built my confidence up.
After lockdown no.1 I wanted to become a fitness instructor and started my fitness qualification journey which led to quite a few different qualifications (personal trainer, pre/post natal, yoga instructor, and more).
From April 2021 I started working in gyms and eventually did personal training and yoga classes too. But where I spent so much time in the gym at work, the last place I wanted to be when my shift was done was in a gym doing my own training. So my training stopped and consequently so did any progress towards my goals.

In April 2024 I started a new venture in kitchen designing, but I knew I still wanted to help people in the fitness community without working in a gym.
So I became The Tofu Trainer. And I got to work.
I thought back on all the long routes I’d taken throughout my muscle building journey, how much I’d lost out on because I didn’t keep at it, how long it took me to learn all the nutritional factors that most people don’t think about to build muscle.
And then I put all of the shortcuts and the time savers into my eBook, The Green Gains Foundation Roadmap.
It was the book I wish I’d been given the first time I set foot in a gym, or when I took my long break from training, or when I started the time consuming journey of nutritional research. It would’ve saved me years of wasted effort, and so it felt like my mission to write it for people who were in my position and still struggling to see results.
